Smiths Falls Old Home Week 2000 was a millennium event
The Old Home Week festivities of 2000 delivered an incredible lineup of entertainment that had the Old Barn (Old Hockey Arena) buzzing with excitement. This photo captures the outstanding performance by the “5 Man Electrical Band,” who had the pleasure of performing in front of a sold-out crowd of visitors and hometown residents, who danced the night away.

Old Home Week 2000 returns to Smiths Falls after 24 years
10-Day Festival Begins Today, Runs to Aug. 6

They’ve been waiting and planning for this almost a quarter century. No wonder Smiths Falls is bursting at the seams with excitement.
The wait is over. Old Home Week 2000, a 10-day celebration that returns to town only once every 25 years, kicks off today (Friday, July 28).
The first events include the opening of the Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit at the curling club, a downtown barbecue, caricaturing downtown and at the railway museum, a model railroad display, and a backyard patio party at the Legion. And that’s just before noon.
It’s also just a small tip of a giant iceberg, which lasts right through to the big fireworks display next Sunday night, Aug. 6.
“We’re ready,” Old Home Week committee chair, Wendy Alford said Monday.
Having worked on this huge project for more than two years, she says she can’t wait for the fun to begin.

Community pride shone brightly during the 2000 Old Home Week in Smiths Falls, as numerous local businesses made significant efforts to welcome friends and family returning for the celebrations. Featured in this picture is Lockwood’s Sight and Sound Ltd, which proudly served the Smiths Falls community from the 1940’s until 2016.
Here we have two delighted Old Home Week 2000 tube racers who, along with numerous other participants, put on an amazing show for the crowd of onlookers at Lower Reach Park. If you happen to recognize these two, please let us know as we would love to give them a well-deserved fashion shout-out and put a name to this duo.
