Settled by United Empire Loyalists in the 1820s, Smiths Falls, Ontario, was a railroad town that flourished, in its early years, on a solid base of small-scale industrial development. Now growth has waned and the town lacks sufficient new industry to provide jobs for the town’s youth. This film is a peek into the 1970’s in Smiths Falls.

Join us at the Railway Reunion, a heartfelt celebration of Smiths
Falls’ proud railway heritage, presented by the Railway Museum of
Eastern Ontario (RMEO). As part of Old Home Week 2025, this special
event will honour the generations of workers, families, and community members whose lives were shaped by the rails.
Step back in time as RMEO unveils a special exhibit from our archives,
featuring rare photographs, artifacts, and personal stories that
highlight the human side of Smiths Falls’ railway legacy. Whether you
worked on the railroad or grew up hearing stories from someone who did, this is your chance to reconnect with a powerful piece of our shared past.
A highlight of the event is our Canadian Pacific Baseball Exhibit,
showcasing the spirited teams of the past—including the legendary
Smiths Falls Beavers professional team—and the important role sport
played in railway life and community pride.
We warmly welcome all current and former railway employees and their families to join us. As a token of our appreciation, free admission will be offered to all past and present railway workers.

rediscover the heart of Smiths Falls.
Old Home Week Retrospective: 100 Years in the Making

The Heritage House Museum will have an exhibit on Old Home Weeks of the past, and Smiths Falls related artifacts from roughly July 23rd – August 31st. During Old Home Week, Monday and Tuesday the museum will be open from 1pm – 4 pm for the exhibit (Aug 4 and Aug 5). Otherwise, regular hours for the other days during the week (10:30 – 4:30).

The Kinsmen Beer Garden will be operating on Sunday August 3rd from 7:00pm to 10:00pm as people gather for the sure to be Spectacular OHW Drone Show that commences at dusk.
The Drone Show is sure to be a unforgettable night for all attendees.

Thanks to our amazing Old Home Week partners, the Old Home Week 2025 committee is crafting a truly unique drone show that will feature stunning imagery and narration to remind us of our identity, our journey, and how we arrived at this moment.
NorthStar Drone Shows, with their international expertise and meticulous attention to detail, will be orchestrating this extraordinary event with 200 drones. They have invested time in understanding our community, ensuring that the show will be a one-of-a-kind experience.
Do not miss this spectacular event on August 3. Remember to bring your chair as music by DJ Johnny Five and other entertainment begins at 8 pm, with the drone show set to light up the sky when the moment is right.

Things to consider while enjoying Old Home Week!
Be sure to bring chairs, umbrellas, and small tents for sun coverage as shade is limited at most venues. Remember to carry reusable cups and bottles, and pack a bag to take your own waste, which will assist volunteers and staff with cleanup efforts. It is advisable to walk to the venues or utilize the shuttle service since parking for entertainers and accessible spots will be extremely limited. Support eco-friendliness by purchasing food and drinks in reusable containers, opting for glass or aluminum, and steering clear of plastics.
