Old Home Week Parade Application

Let’s unite to showcase the vibrant spirit of Smiths Falls as a remarkable destination for living, working, and playing during the extraordinary Old Home Week celebration that occurs only once every 25 years. Come join us in the OHW parade as we enthusiastically celebrate Smiths Falls with pride in our roots, appreciation for our present, and excitement for our future.

Date: Saturday, August 2, 2025
Time: Parade begins at 1:30 PM
Theme: Celebrating Smiths Falls: Our Roots, Our Present, Our Future
Assembly Location: Smiths Falls Youth Arena Parking Lot (beginning at 10:00 AM for float decoration)
Parade Route: Beckwith Street to Jasper Avenue, ending at Lower Reach Park

Terms and conditions

Insurance Requirement

Any incorporated group participating in the parade must have a minimum of $5 million in liability insurance, with the Town of Smiths Falls named on the policy. Proof of insurance must be submitted before participation is confirmed.

Photo and Likeness Release: By filling in and submitting this form, I grant the Town of Smiths Falls and the Old Home Week Committee permission to use my photo, likeness, and any media captured during my participation in the event for promotional, advertising, and documentation purposes, in any and all media formats, without further compensation or notice.

Parade Guidelines

1. Safety First: All participants must comply with safety regulations and instructions from parade marshals. Any items distributed during the parade must be handed out and cannot be thrown.

2. Setup: Floats and participants can arrive at the Smiths Falls Youth Arena parking lot no earlier than 10:00 AM for setup and decoration. Please ensure floats are ready to go by 12:45 PM.

3. Parade Division: The parade is divided into three sections (Our Roots, Our Present, and Our Future) to showcase the history, current vibrancy, and bright future of Smiths Falls. Your category selection will determine your placement in the lineup.

4. Duration: Entries must remain in the parade route, which concludes at Lower Reach Park. Prize winners can collect their prizes following the parade at the Information Booth outside the Kinsmen Building.

5. Judging Categories: Prizes will be awarded for:

  • Old Home Week Showstopper (Best Overall)
  • Best Blast from the Past (Best Historical Representation)
  • Homecoming Spirit (Best Community Spirit)
  • Most Legendary Ride (Best Decorated Vehicle)
  • Time Travel Trophy (Best Thematic Representation)
  • Local Legends (Best Commercial Entry)
  • Centennial Standout (Most Original)

6. Shuttle Service: Shuttles will run between Lower Reach Park and the Youth Arena after the parade..

7. Insurance: Participants are responsible for their own liability insurance. Incorporated groups must meet the $5M liability insurance requirement as outlined above.

8. Decorations & Advertising: We encourage all participants to decorate their entries to reflect the past, present, or future of Smiths Falls or the spirit of Old Home Week.

9. Clean-Up: All participants are required to ensure their area is left clean and free of debris.

PLEASE NOTE
There will be a limited number of parade entries and pre-registration is required.

Registration in the parade is not complete until your space has been confirmed by the OHW committee, payment has been received and insurance requirements have been met.

Acknowledgment: By filling in and submitting this parade application form, I confirm that I have read and agree to the parade terms and conditions and parade guidelines. I understand that my participation is subject to approval by the Old Home Week 2025 Parade Committee.
